Adventure Camp continued out on the shores of Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Our second trip was for one week in the second week of boys session two. We challenged ourselves surfing and sea kayaking and followed several coastal hikes that explored the sand dunes, salt marshes, freshwater ponds and beaches of the stunning National Seashore. Together we took part in some first-class surfing at Head of the Meadow Beach. We sea kayaked in the Nauset Marsh and made our way out to dip our feet in the Atlantic Ocean. We also visited great fresh water ponds and the towering sandy cliffs of White Crest Beach. At the end of any hard day of surfing and hiking we made sure we found time to play on the beach, cool down in a fresh water swimming hole or watch the sun set from the shoreline of our favorite beach. It was another incredible week of adventure camp—we hope more campers will join us next year!

We’ve had a lot of Ten Year Jackets at Boys Camp this year! On Sunday, June 10, four leaders earned their jackets. They were: Dan Gogolen, Tim Heneghan, Eric Eschner and Nick Herdeg. Congratulations to all of them!
Adventure Camp is back in full swing out on the rocky crags of one of the most pristine national forests in New Hampshire. Our first trip was for one week in the second week of boys session one. We challenged ourselves on the granite cliffs, summits, and tree tops of the White Mountains National Forest. The focus of this experience was high energy adventure. Together we took part in some first class climbing at Cathedral Ledge and Sundown Cliffs. We explored the alpine environment of Mt. Moosilauke and Zip-lined the high treetops around Lincoln. We also took plenty of time to enjoy local waterfall hikes and at the end of any hard day of hiking and climbing we made sure we found a cool swimming hole before dinner. When we returned to Camp Takodah, we concluded our trip with a sunrise hike on Gap Mountain—a memorable end to an incredible week of adventure camp.

Today, Cabin 16 built the SS Untamed Sixteen, a (not) very seaworthy vessel. They worked hard, though, and had a lot of fun building it. The raft-building challenge is a great cabin activity, and these guys certainly enjoyed it!
Today was our last day of Boys First session! We’re sad, but at least we know that many of our friends will be back again next year. Speaking of which, check out the video for a little message.
The Staff Show on Wednesday Night featured a lot of great skits for campers to enjoy. Here’s one, a performance by Lucie, Chris, Liam, Willy T., and Claire, of the elementary school favorite, “Don Gato.”
Last night at CT Ceremony, we celebrated four Takodians who have spent ten years here at Takodah. Staff members Pat Tenero, Ethan DeWitt and Perry Wasserbauer, and LIT Harrison Wasserbauer, were presented with jackets. Then, their friends who have spent the past ten years with them spoke about their experiences together. It was wonderful to honor these Takodians in front of their real-world and camp families.
Cabin activity is the time where campers get to spend quality time with their whole cabin group. Leaders plan activities each day, and sometimes team up with other cabin groups. Here’s a very short video from inside the parachute! Some of our oldest campers, the LITs, spent time with some of our youngest campers, in Cabin 20, playing lots of games. Everyone had a blast!
The Adventure Trip headed out today! They arrived to camp yesterday, and settled into the Adventure Village for a night. While they were here, they got to zip across the lake on our zip line! This morning, after breakfast, they packed up and headed out to the White Mountains, where they’ll spend time climbing and hiking. We’re sure they’ll have a great time!
Congratulations to 10-Year Takodians Alex Ball and James Toye, who received jackets yesterday in a special ceremony that honored their time here at camp. Staff members and former campers told stories and shared memories about these two staff members. The 10-year jacket has been a tradition at Takodah since 1930, when the Elwells received jackets celebrating their first ten years at Takodah
